Tanz im August
31st International Contemporary Dance Festival Berlin

Kick strut flex drop spin! Take your seats everyone, because Berlin’s contemporary dance festival is upon us once again. Bringing both national and international, established and new dance talent to Berlin, Tanz im August starts August 9 and doesn’t stop moving until the end of the month.
Tanz im August contorts ‘sensitive’, ’experimental’ and ‘exciting’ into multiple forms. There will be modern samurai battles with Anne Nguyen’s Kata. Also, expect a journey through Zimbabwe’s pop and punk culture with Nora Chipaumire’s PUNK 100% POP *N!GGA. New to the festival’s stage will be Oona Doherty’s fierce representation of the conflict in Northern Ireland: Hard to be Soft- A Belfast Prayer. Not to forget the radical inspiration that is Deborah Hay, who will open the festival with two world premieres including Animals on the Beach.
In addition there will be a whole host of artist talks, thematic panels, installations, book presentations and also an accompanying free magazine Magazin im August.
Tickets and further information are available at www.tanzimaugust.de or at the HAU Hebbel am Ufer box office.
In a Sentence: Inspiration for how to express yourself elegantly and experimentally.
